About This Spot

Stepping into Salty Mike's feels like slipping into a quiet corner of Charleston where time slows just enough to let the bustle of the day fade behind you. The worn wooden bar, the hum of easy conversation, and the gentle clink of glasses set a mood that’s unpretentious and warmly familiar—a true neighborhood marina bar that welcomes both locals and visitors with an effortless charm.

The pace here is unhurried, and the atmosphere carries the genuine hum of shared stories and long-held habits. It’s a place where the staff remembers your name before you even order, where beers come cold and the menu feels like a trusted friend. This isn’t a spot to chase craft cocktail trends or curated tasting menus, but rather one to enjoy simple, satisfying flavors that pair perfectly with the view of boats gently bobbing in the marina just outside.

Here, the food complements the relaxed vibe. From crispy clam strips that come with a tangy marinara dip to hearty house-made chowders brimming with local shellfish, every bite echoes the coastal roots of the place. The kitchen also nods to comfort with classic bar bites and straightforward sandwiches that taste like they’ve been perfected through years of casual, bustling nights.

Salty Mike's thrives on its authenticity—there’s no pretense, just a deep sense of place and a snapshot of Charleston’s waterfront life. It’s the kind of bar that feels like home, whether you’re unwinding after a long day or just stopping by to soak in the sunset views over cold beer and familiar faces.

If you hate dive bars do not come here because this is the diviest place ever and it's awesome hopefully during the remodel they do not wreck it.

On the water, always good food and consistent with great views. Staff is friendly and if you’re lucky you were there when they have the Cinnabon.

Being a small town gal now at MUSC, this place has been a slice of home during med school. Great atmosphere, even better staff. Cheap beer and incredibly kind owner(with an amazing memory. Haven't been in about a year and he recognized me immediately) which is very rare in Charleston. Much love to the staff for always being so lovely!

No frills or pretention hrer. Just a local marina bar with a fun bar tender, decent bar food, and cold beer. Love it!

Really cool dive bar right next to the Marina. I was always over doing it and failed to earnestly tie one on here. Really if you boated here all season this place would rock being right next to the Marina. Great view of the Marina and the coastal wetlands at sunset. Although with the mega dock it was actually a kind of long walk from Dragon's Lair to here, but still world's closer than down town.

A must stop when I’m in town. A local legend. Great service and nice view on the back deck. Pool tables also.
